A "Poem" about Christmas, from the perspective of someone who has only "participated" Once

- A Poem about Christmas, as seen by a Christmas Newbie

It's Christmas time.
It's Christmas time.
Buy stuff.
For your friends.
Tell your coworkers you are glad you work together.
Send holiday cheer with 39 cents and a small piece of your heart.
Buy stuff for your loved ones.
Everyone wants the same thing.
Everyone wants love from you.
Everyone wants you to remember them.
Everyone wants your love.
Happy Christmas.

hahaha...yes, that first Christmas is an odd thing. I remember being so struck by the commercialism of it that I was deeply repulsed. I still have issues with it actually. Not sure it will ever be a pleasurable thing for me. Maybe if I have kids I'll be able to recapture the innocence of it.

Christmas is weird for me too. Thankfully my man comes from the same place we did, so we don't have to have a big To-Do about it. It's whatever we are comfortable with that year, so far not much at all. We just get a few gifts for the kids, because it means a lot to them, and then we lay low and have ourselves our own non-traditional Christmas. I mean, the traditions are meaningless to us! And you are right; the commercialism is icky.

This year we are talking about serving soup at the soup kitchen on Christmas! I really hope we do it!
