Monkey Escape Plans Never Work
By Liv
There was a monkey. His name was Bubba. Ted for short. He lived at the Henry Vilas Zoo.
Ted decided that it was time to move on with his life. He didn't much care for the zoo. It wasn't close enough to a lake for his taste, not a real one anyway. Also, they never gave him ice cream there. Ted really loved ice cream.
So Ted devised a plan to escape. He wrote it down in floor dust with his furry monkey finger. It read like this:
1) Act normally
2) Wait until nightfall
3) Don't be afraid of the robot
4) Remember where the door is
5) Bring list of phone numbers
Yes, Ted was going to go far.

LOVE this!!! And I heart Ted. ;)
Aw, thanks, Tall Penguin! I really heart Ted too. This is definitely one of my weirder stories, but that's what I love about it.
I don't know if it's obvious, but these stories came from my friend's writing club. Each week he'd provide a phrase, and then the assignment was to write a story using the phrase. The phrase in this one is "Don't be afraid of the robot."
I always just let the stories flow without much or any planning. Which is why this story ended up so weird.
The phrase in the story about mashed potatoes was "Mashed potatoes can be your friend." Etc.
Ya, I figured out about your friend's writing club from later entries. It doesn't matter whether the story is true or not, good writing means you'll be able to relate to it in some way or another.
